Transporting Containers and Park Homes

Transporting containers and park homes requires careful planning and communication to ensure a smooth and efficient delivery process. Below is a detailed overview of the key transport options, important guidelines, and potential additional fees.

General Preparation

Before proceeding with the transportation of containers or park homes, it is essential to:

  • Confirm the on-site contact details, preferably including a cell phone number for easy communication.
  • Confirm the full delivery address or provide a pin location if possible to avoid confusion or delays.

Standard Transport

Standard transport involves using a crane truck that loads and offloads items directly beside the vehicle without requiring any specialised rigging. However, there are a few important notes to keep in mind:

  • The crane truck must be able to pull up directly beside the container or park home for loading and offloading.
  • The time allocated to load and offload as standing time will be charged should it take longer than the allocated time.
  • Ensure the site is clear of any obstructions, particularly electrical or telephone lines.
  • Be aware of potential exclusions in the transport rate. For instance, additional charges may apply for mine surcharges, police clearance, or safety file preparation. Make sure to inform the transporter if any of these are required at the delivery site when requesting transportation rates.

Side Loader Transport

A side lifter vehicle is another transport option for containers, which allows for loading and offloading from the driver’s side of the vehicle. The following guidelines apply to side loader transport:

  • The time allocated to load and offload as standing time will be charged should it take longer than the allocated time.
  • For safe transport, the container’s sides must be closed. This means that any external fixtures, such as air conditioners mounted on the sides of the container, may need to be removed before transportation.
  • The site should offer clear and unrestricted access for the vehicle to pull up directly beside the container. Side loaders require direct proximity and cannot operate at a reach.
  • The side lifter cannot load or offload at a reach; it requires direct proximity.
  • The maximum payload of a side loader truck is 28 tons.
  • Be aware of potential exclusions in the transport rate. For instance, additional charges may apply for mine surcharges, police clearance, or safety file preparation. Make sure to inform the transporter if any of these are required at the delivery site when requesting transportation rates.

Understanding the transport options available, along with their respective limitations and potential additional charges, will help you select the most suitable solution and avoid any surprises during delivery.
